our story

how we got here

Jordan and Chloe met at an engagement party in 2021 (and spoiler, they were both dating other people at the time). They did not share many exchanges until they both ended up on the leadership team at their church's young adult ministry in 2023.

Jordan: Chloe was someone I respected and admired from a distance, and she became a kind and generous friend to me while we were serving together at church. Getting to know each other in friendship turned into growing interest, which turned into getting butterflies whenever I had the chance to chat with her after meetings or events, which turned into realizing that I was indeed astronomically down bad in my feelings for her… even driving down to San Diego and back late at night just to clear my head. I asked my pastor for advice, and we agreed to play it cool, but to keep pursuing friendship. So naturally, I texted her nonstop and continued conversations on and on that she eventually got confused, and she asked me what my intentions were (let’s gooo!!!). So we called on the phone and I said, "I like you!"

Chloe: In closely serving for a year together, I grew fond of our friendship, and I cared for Jordan deeply. He quietly served the people around him with wholehearted kindness and humility; And he found contentment in the Lord, and therefore every circumstance in his life. As a friend, I always found it very easy to root for him. A period of time came when everyone in our ministry team (including our leader, Pastor Dennis) was out for international travels. Jordan and I had to run the show and hold the fort down together for a good few weeks — I had no idea that this was Jordan's literal dream (LOL) because he had liked me for MANY months prior. This time had naturally led to deeper camaraderie, Pastor Dennis' scheming, long text conversations, and eventually a DTR talk (firmly initiated by yours truly).

first (?) date

Jordan: After that first conversation when I told her I liked her, Chloe rightfully had a lot of questions for me and wanted to know how I came to this conclusion. We went to a cafe, and she had written down a WHOLE list of questions for me. I sort of blacked out and did my best to answer everything — I just remember thinking that I was really happy to be there with her, and it felt unreal. After the interview, I really thought that this could go either way… but to my surprise, she proceeded with “so when’s our next date?”. I was shocked, relieved, and excited all at once.

Chloe: I was still skeptical about his intentions, so I told him I would meet with him after a church event, so I could grill him with questions. He happily agreed because he was just excited to be alone with me. We decided to carpool after the church event, and we debated on who would drive. I insisted on taking us, and while Jordan reluctantly agreed, he tried getting into my car and fell into a bush. I felt so bad that I conceded and let him drive instead. He opened the car door for me (the first time a man has done so, good job), and we went to a cafe to share an earl grey pie (yum). After the interrogation was over, I asked if he was free to hangout the next day.
